In February of 2021, I had the opportunity to meet Casey Fortson--Human Rights Activist and Leader of the Trenton Student Voice Power Movement. After the George Floyd incident struck the minds and hearts of the American population in 2020, Casey knew that he needed to make a difference for his community. In his own words, it lit this "activism fire" he never knew he had. By applying the discipline he learnt from Martial Arts, Casey has led the TSVPM and given a voice to Trenton High School students.

From fighting for the continuation of AP courses in his school, to participating in the BLM movement, Casey has been persistent to make change in his school/community. His goal is to not only lead protests and marches, but turn those actions into realistic reform by efficiently communicating the collective concern to entities. How he still organizes protests during COVID and works toward becoming a medical professional are discussed in our extraordinary interview...
